Does it matter where I live?
Which strain of Kratom you should grow I think depends on where you are located more than anything. Keeping your crop alive and getting a harvest is the ultimate goal right? There isn't very much variation in the effects that they product, maybe a little, but it depends more on when they're harvested and what type of soil that are grown in, and how wet that soil is. Contrary to popular belief, it doesn't so much matter if you're in Florida, or in Canada. Let me explain.
Northern Climates Do Better With Vietnam Strain
If you live in Canada or a northern region of the United States, you'll do better outdoors. The reason why is these live kratom plants are typically grown in indoor green houses in the US and other countries. They become allicamted to the environmental conditions in which their mother plants grow up in. So if the cutting you have is from outside, it will crave outdoor cultivation plots. If it's grown indoors, it will do better up north because the sunshine is less intense, and resemlbes more of an indoor environment.
Southern Climates Prefer Indonesian and Malaysian Kratom
If you live in Florida, Texas or anywhere else in the southern most United States, then I suggest Malaysian, or even more preferably the Indonesian strain. From there it doesn't matter if it's Bumble Bee, or Maeng Da. Kratom is a really hearty plant, and even if it's completely dead, it will come back. The main trick is to NOT over water it. If it's in a humid climate as it should be, it will require very little water. In fact, a small indoor plant can grow for over six months with no water. It's hard to believe but they tend to thrive more off of humidity in the air. I know a lot of growers and have even helped some so I know. My guess is their absorbing moisture from the air. This, and indoor lighting isn't as intense as the sun, thus rending the water in the soil for longer periods of time.
Kratom Plants Are Hard To Kill
If your plant dies, don't panic. Chances are they will come back, even if it takes months. You can also pull them out of the dirt by the roots, and put them in water next to a light like a compact fluorscent light, and they will start to root. Then you can put them back in dirt and you're good to go. If you searched for which strain of Kratom to grow based on effects, note that the time in which you harvest will be the key to this. Harvest two batches, one early, and one late. See for yourself the difference. It's often debated which does what, but you can easily do both and see results instead of listening to hear say.
