I write this in such a way as for you to find your own conclusions, rather than pushing a conclusion of my own onto others. Decide for yourself but I highly advise to follow the rules in the bible and study them for yourself, rather than listening to someone else. These are my beliefs based on the study of various religious cultures, science, and putting the pieces together.

The Holy Bible
The Pineal Gland, also known as the "seat of the soul". It's a tiny pine cone shaped gland that's found near the center of the brain/skull region. It plays roles in melatonin, seratonin, and DMT production, synthesis, etc. Many religious and cultures believed it to hold the keys to the spirit world, and to, well I guess what you could call "divination", or a means to reach God. IMO certain practices, and certain types of context, are clearly forbidden by scripture, others are debatable, and beyond that I really don't want to tell anyone my personal beliefs on the matter because I feel it's wrong to try to convince someone certain things. I merely offer the resources for you to learn about these phenominon, and to understand that the biblical reality described in scripture is in fact real, and even tied in with scientific literature and research. DMT in the pineal gland is also found in many plants, and is believed to be secreted when you sleep and dream. So, it's scientifically and culturally associated with dreams, AND the spirit world. The belief of a spirit world is heavily held in shamanic traditions. The Bible clearly indicates to us that such phenominon exist as well, mentioning angels and visions quite often. In the book of revelations are some stories which sound strikingly similar to the type of encounters someone would have under the influence of DMT, Psilocybin, or similar psychedelics. Revelation 10 mentions a vision of an angel clothed with a cloud, with a rainbow upon his forehead, with feet as pillas of fire! In Revelaion 1, John has a vision of God with some strikingly psychedelic natured symbolism. Given the research, it would seem that these chemicals and this part of the brain, are all tied in with religious experience, spiritual reality, and ultimately both God and the Devil. In Revelation 10, God says to go grab the book out of the angels hand and eat it up. Says "Take it, and eat it up! and it shall make thy belly bitter, but it shall be in thy mouth sweet as honey. And I took the little book out of the angel's hand, and ate it up; and it was in my mouth sweet as honey: and as soon as I had eaten it, my belly was bitter. 11 And he said unto me, Thou must prophesy again before many peoples, and nations, and tongues, and kings." So he says it'll be sweet in thy mouth ( as in it will help you speak prophecy ) This is confirmed when it goes on to say, "Thou must prophesy again before many peoples". The pineal gland has been confirmed by science. MAPS is a group of researchers interested in these types of plants and substances. Rick Strassman and other PHD scholars have studied it, as seen in the documentary with Joe Rogan "DMT, The Spirit Molecule".
I didn't post the shamanism link to encourage you to partake. It's there so you can see how there are some of the same beliefs in Shamanism and Christianity. They just refer to them differently. For example, shamans call it the "spirit world". Christianity doesn't call it anything but it talks about it, mentioning angels, and visions that prophets had. I believe the two paths are speaking of the same phenominon. This "spirit world" is the same one that the angels and evil spirits in the bible exist. Anyone who goes down the path of shamanism winds up consumed by it, a slave to the spirits, or turns to Yashua Christ and the Most High. The rules in the bible will prove theirselv when you partake in idolatry and serving false Gods. It really helps to understand what it means to make something a God.
